Resumen
The study of the Islamic defensive architecture is very important due to their great extension in the Iberian Peninsula. This issue presents a direct connection with the construction system commonly used in their architecture at that time: the rammed earth. The studies carried out so far show common features and some peculiarities that could relate the technique from the geographical situation and the available resources, to different periods of construction or building technology evolution. Because of that, it is necessary to analyze in depth this construction system in each case study. It is the key matter to recognize their characteristics in order to layout and to apply the adequate conservation and restoration works that preserve the heritage significance. This paper presents the results of technical analysis related to the Muza Tower, focused on its walls building technique. The methodology used and the results obtained reveal some characteristics about this system that can be used as a reference to similar constructions. They can also be relevant for future research works and to increase the knowledge about the structural historical technique.
