| dc.description.abstract | This article deals with the hydRaúlic systems that made possible the supply of water to Granada and the Alhambra before, during and after the Islamic domination of this territory. With its origins in the Roman Iliberri-Florentia, it was in the following centuries that the complex system of irrigation ditches, canals and hydRaúlic devices was created, which, from the Zirid dynasty (11th century) and passing through the Almoravids and Almohads (11th-13th century), reached its splendor in the Nasrid dynasty (13th-15th century). The irrigation ditches of Aynadamar, Real de la Alhambra, del Cadí and others; the rey Chico aqueduct or the albercón de las Damas among others, were fundamental constructions for the development of Nasrid art and culture, as well as for the construction of the Alhambra. After the Christian conquest, these supply systems were neglected until the beginning of the 20th century, when Torres Balbás began their modern heritage consideration and conservation. © Universidad de Jaén (España). | es |
