dc.description.abstractThis article presents the results of the tests conducted to study the performance of concrete beams, shear-stress-reinforced with carbon fibre fabrics perimetrally bonded to the external side by means of epoxy resins. To achieve the goal, partial objectives were set such as deflection analyses and cracking in the reinforced beams. Ten mass-or reinforced-concrete beams were produced and the experimental results compared with the theoretical ones, obtained through existing analytical formulation such as the one recommended by fib Bulletin no. 14. From the results obtained it can be indicated that the reinforced beams offer better performance than non-reinforced beams both in the value of the ultimate loads and in the ductility of the pieces. It can also be averred that, in all cases studied, the analytically obtained foreseen stiffness up to cracking point is higher than that obtained experimentally. It should also be pointed out that the beams shear-reinforced with carbon fibre fabric possess higher ductility than non-reinforced beams.es
