The Intensive Program HERCULES (Let's exchange HERitage of our CULture - drawing as communication tool of students of architecture/engineers from European UniversitiES) is an EU-funded activity that represents a unique opportunity to promote the mobility of students and teachers, to develop systemic and transversal competences as well as specific ones in the field of the architectural graphic expression and the heritage, bringing finally knowledge and culture together. It is fully integrated in the curricula of all participating university at least as diploma supplement. In August 2013, 35 students of architecture, building management and civil engineering and 9 teachers from 5 different European countries (Poland, Italy, Denmark, Finland and Spain) attended in Opole and Gliwice (Poland) a two-week training activity centred on freehand drawing. The innovative teaching approach includes jointly lectures and field drawing work with a different topic each day as well as the preparation at the end of each session of a poster with the best drawing. Furthermore the creation of a multidisciplinary team with different points of view, both methodological and functional, able also to contribute ideas, information and concrete results, is an added value. This paper describes in more detail all these aspects, besides providing a comprehensive and holistic view of this new training activity, perfectly integrated into university curricula within the framework of the common European area of university education.es
