This paper analyses the dimensioning of the sanitation network in buildings and its ventilation is analysed, providing a calculation methodology based on fluid mechanics that takes into account all the variables involved in the process. The geometric variables of the pipes of different materials and the physical characteristics of the fluids that take part in the process, of the water and of the air according to the hygrometric conditions are taken into account, analysing their influence. Limit states of operation are established according scientific and normative criteria and a calculation methodology is developed whose results allow the dimensioning of the pipes to evacuate the water flow and guarantee ventilation simultaneously, guaranteeing compliance with the overpressure limit states and depression established by the CTE HS-5 (BOE, 2006). The results have been presented graphically and have been contrasted with the computational calculation through the Epanet program (Rossman, 2018) for the purpose of validation. This article provides a calculation tool that achieves the optimization of the sanitation network achieving an efficient installation that facilitates the work of the designer when designing or evaluating a sanitation network. © 2019 by the authors.
