| dc.description.abstract | The construction sector is one of the most dangerous sectors in the world. Notwithstanding the crisis that has recently affected construction, accident rates in this sector are among the highest in all the industrial sectors. However, traditional methods for security management, based on documents and 2D plans, continue to be used. Building Information Modelling (BIM) has emerged as a fundamental tool in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. Application of BIM in construction projects is advantageous in that it allows the project to be controlled from the outset, with prevention measures applied right from the design stage. The aim of the present study is to carry out a review of the state of knowledge of the BIM methodology and safety in construction works. To this end, publications have been analysed based on variables such as year of publication, country and applied technology. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, London. | es |
