Resumen
The unstoppable advance of technology makes it necessary to adapt university education, making it necessary to incorporate it into the teaching-learning processes. The need for future graduates to acquire knowledge in specific technologies and programs makes it necessary to propose strategies to make the paradigm shift in the university a reality. The teaching of architecture and building cannot be alien to this process, which is leading to the consolidation of a new educational model that incorporates information and communication technologies (ICT) in the teaching-learning processes. This paper presents a case study on the use of specific ICT in the building sector, applied in the optional subject “BIM in Building” of the Degree in Technical Architecture at the Polytechnic School of the University of Alicante. In the development of the different practical sessions of the subject, traditional working methods are compared with the use of new technologies, promoting collaborative work and analyzing student feedback throughout the process. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
