Abstract
The cultivation of black tobacco in “Vega de Granada” reached its maximun splendor towards the middle of the twentieth century. Its greatest consequence was the construction of up to six thousand dryers, that completely transformed the land scape and lifestyle of this area. This paper, aims to value both the traditional architecture in these constructions, as well as their associated intangible heritage. Thereby, on the one hand, a classification of the black tobacco dryers is presented according to their construction material and their design. On the other hand, a patrimonial valuation of these buildings is offered in order to demad an adequate legislative protection that will allow this still living legacy to endure over time.
