Abstract
Achieving economic objectives is a primary evaluation criterion in assessing the success of a construction project. In this regard, cost management is a key task towards helping construction managers to prevent cost overruns and to apply the proper corrective actions to problems along the project life cycle. To do this, analytical tools allow users to carry out a historical costs analysis which may be of special interest for current projects. To help in this task, in this paper, we present an intelligent system that allows to structure in an integrated way the information extracted from one of the most important documents in the construction project management domain, the Bill of Quantities document (BoQ). In this way, users have structured data readily for cost analysis in a transparent way. © 2016 IEEE.
