Abstract
Improving citizens' quality of life is one of the main goals of Smart Cities development. Accessibility of urban public spaces absolutely determines the living conditions for people. Technology provides new opportunities of autonomy for an increasing group of inhabitants with specific disabilities. This work proposes an urban model for improving accessibility based on the design of intelligent environments, with the automation of processes and functions in urban spaces, as a safe and effective way to promote inclusion and participation of all citizens. Finally, the most appropriate technologies to implement the model are discussed. © Copyright 2016 by SCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publications, Lda. All rights reserved.
