Abstract
This paper describes a numerical study of the efficiency of energy dissipators for seismic protection of thinplated timber buildings; the dissipators are based on plastification of metals and are newly designed. This research belongs to a project to promote the use of timber in seismic regions; this project involves experiments and advanced numerical simulation. Preliminary results point out the seismic efficiency of the proposed dissipators compared to the unprotected buildings; comparison with other earthquake-resistant solutions is in progress.
