Abstract
In this work we analyze a new learning method used in the department of building of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a methodology based on the learning, on the investigation and reasoning that the students follow to come to a solution before a problem raised by the teacher. Generally, inside the educational process, the teacher explains a part of the matter and, immediately later, he proposes to the students an activity of application of the mentioned contents. Nevertheless, the PBL appears as a way in order that the students obtain this knowledge and apply them to solve a real or fictitious problem, without the teacher uses the magisterial lesson or another method to transmit this matter. We can define the PBL as "a method of learning based on the principle of using problems as point of item for the acquisition and integration of the new knowledge". In this methodology the protagonists of the learning are the students, who assume the responsibility of being an active part in the process.
