Abstract
The United Nations proposes new strategies to protect the planet and strengthen the prosperity of humanity with new objectives called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), involving governments, the private sector, and society. From the teaching field, the Objectives of Quality Education, Innovation and Infrastructure, Responsible Production and Consumption, and Climate Action are applicable. On the other hand, in the Building Engineering Degree, assignments are usually delivered on paper, implying excess consumption. The focus of this work is to apply the concepts of sustainable development in a Final Study Project (FSP) presentation environment to observe the different techniques that documents in Portable Document Format (PDF) allow. To this end, a project is being carried out to adapt an electrical installation and its automation in a forage dehydration factory. The document incorporates tools with content visualization features, allowing audio, video, links, business logic, and electronic signature. It is important to begin implementing new digital technologies in the academic/teaching sector with the need for digital development in teacher training. This teaching model provides students with relevant skills and competencies for their future professional career. Avoiding excess paper consumption will improve the responsible use of the environment and its resources, seeking to reduce part of the destructive effects of climate change on the planet. The university teaching community must transmit these objectives and implement the use of new technologies as well as responsible consumption. It is necessary to improve through sustainable development along with the evolution and progress of society. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
